Every pastor enrolled in The Tentmakers Institute receives vocational and business training as an intentional part of the program.

Many pastors serving in underserved regions face significant financial pressure. They may faithfully pastor a church while also struggling to provide food, housing, education, medical care, and other necessities for their families. In some cases, financial hardship can eventually force a pastor to reduce or leave his ministry responsibilities simply to survive.

We believe biblical training and family sustainability should work together.

Students are taught practical principles of work, stewardship, entrepreneurship, business planning, and income development. Opportunities are evaluated according to the local economy, the pastor's abilities, available resources, and realistic possibilities within his community. Depending on the country, this may include agriculture, livestock, skilled trades, retail, services, or other small-business ventures.

The goal is not to make pastors wealthy. It is to help them become responsible providers who can care for their families while continuing to faithfully serve the churches God has entrusted to them.

This vocational emphasis is central to the identity of The Tentmakers Institute: following the biblical example of ministry and work operating together for the sake of the Gospel.
