Train-the-Trainer Ministry
The long-term vision of The Tentmakers Institute is not to create permanent dependence upon foreign teachers.
We want trained national pastors to eventually become trainers themselves.
Throughout each pastor's time in the Institute, leadership carefully observes his character, faithfulness, doctrinal understanding, communication ability, ministry effectiveness, work ethic, and ability to teach others. Potential future instructors may be identified during their training, and graduates may also express a desire to serve in this capacity.
However, graduation alone does not automatically make someone an instructor.
Future trainers must be willing to serve, demonstrate the ability to teach faithfully, possess the necessary character and doctrinal stability, and receive the approval of The Tentmakers Institute leadership.
Those who are selected can then receive additional preparation and opportunities to assist in training future students.
This is one of the most important elements of our multiplication strategy.
The missionary or American instructor should not always have to be the teacher. Our desire is to see the pastor who was once sitting in the classroom eventually stand before other pastors and faithfully teach them what he has learned.
When students become teachers, training can multiply far beyond the reach of a single missionary, instructor, or organization.
